We want to extend our sympathy to our resident Erlean Mahan upon the death of her dear friend Melvin E. Valleroy who passed away on June 11, 2009. Mel always brought a smile to everyone's face when he attended one of our social functions.
I apologize for the large gap in the Blossom City news. We were occupied with starting up a new weekly article for the North County News.
Our manager, Marilyn Raban, has the fish aquarium sparkling and restocked with some unusual fish and snails for the resident's visual entertainment. In fact just today Irene Bathon's great granddaughter, Jessie, was heard exclaiming "Grandma, I want to go down and see the fish!".
The Garden Place van was filled with hungry people who enjouyed some delicious Chniese food at the "Rice and Fries" Restaurant in Sparta, IL. One evening we socialized around the tables with some "Wine-n-Cheese". The next day we were entertained by Dave Sheppard, who played the electric guitar and sang many of the "Old Time" - and some pouplar tunes. The Singing Sheriff was here again with his splendid entertainment. He mixed it up with the audience plus we had a Kraoke sing and enjoyed some dancing. Of course every Sunday morning at 8:30 resident Doris Cobb presents vocal and instrumental gospel music. This past Sunday Concord Presbyterian Church, PCA of Waterloo conducted a 2pm church serice that was well attended.
In the culinary department we enjoyed "Brats from The Grill" and on another occasion, home-made ice cream - and guess what? There was none left over!
During the pst month we welcomed three new residents - Irene Bathan, Delores Roscow and Wilfred Stratmann.
Future events in the planning stage are a Father's Day potluck on Friday the 19th and then on the Fourth of July a party with special food and FIREWORKS.
